Mamma MIa: Here We Go Again

A Disco Themed Wedding for the Ages

The Couple: Heidi and Carlos

I met Heidi while we were both in a production of Mamma Mia the musical. We became friends instantly at callbacks and have since had some very memorable experiences and sincere conversations which makes her someone I truly admire. She has such a unique insight on life and makes everyone she talks to feel special.
When I met her she was already dating Carlos the aspiring photographer and felt strongly that he was the one. I asked her to tell me a little about how her and Carlos met and she said "We met through a dating app when I was bored and wanted validation. We hit it off really fast and our first date was a week later. It was soooo easy to hangout with him and there was something about that. We both knew very quickly that we were gonna get married, but had different things to adjust and get used to first. A year and a half later we got married! Best decision ever! We're both exactly who we've always been looking for"

The Wedding

I attended Heidi and Carlos's reception and I loved their subtle nods to the 70s Disco aesthetic. It was not abrasive, but from their wedding photos captured on film and small disco ball ornaments on each of the tables, it was delightfully retro, but very classy. It was also SOOO much fun because so many of our fellow Mamma Mia cast members came! Heidi and Carlos wanted to make sure that people danced so they played a lot of iconic Disco bops. And as thespians, we can DANCE! We did a conga line, the limbo, the hustle, etc. We were the life of the party just saying!! When "Dancing Queen" came on we all broke out into an ABBA flashmob and did as much of the choreography as we remembered, and what we didn't remember, we just made up.

The absolute pinnacle of the evening was catching the bouquet. I've never caught one before so you better believe that I positioned myself in the most opportune spot and was prepared to body check as many bridesmaids as I needed to claim that trophy. Naturally my peak strength and agility helped me rip those flowers out of the air. Later that evening, a five-year-old boy approached me and asked if he could have my bouquet. OF COURSE NOT. Sir. I worked for that bouquet. And with that bouquet, I claim all the energy to being the next to get married. It was the perfect accessory to a lovely evening.
